Last week saw over 300 Children, from 18 schools, take part in the Sports Hall Athletics competition which took place on 5th 6th & 7th November at Ibstock College.
The competition is a series of athletics events that include javelin, long jump, triple jump, vertical jump, medicine ball throw and speed bounce followed by a series of relay races. Schools receive points based on where they finish in each event and an overall winner is crowned at the end of the week.
At the end of the competition Willesley were the winning team who will now progress to represent North West Leicestershire in the Level 3 competition.
Special mention also needs to go to Hugglescote who were awarded Spirit of the Games for the overall competition for their determination, passion, honesty and self-belief.
The event was only possible thanks to Ibstock College for providing their facilities for the week and providing Young Leaders, who were exceptional throughout the week as they set up equipment, measured and recorded scores and perhaps most importantly, provided encouragement to the children taking part.
