Tri- Golf Pathway
The great June monsoon couldn’t stop 8 determined schools competing in the Year 3/4 & 5/6 Tri-Golf Pathway competitions. With 5 consecutive days of rain, the event needed to be brought indoors with Ibstock CC answering the call and saving the day with their fantastic leaders.
First up was the year 3/4 event with Ashby C of E, Ashby Hill Top, Measham C of E, Swannington, Broom Leys, Whitwick St Johns, Measham St Charles and Woodstone all in attendance and determined not to let the rain dampen the mood. After 60 mins and 8 stations a well drilled Whitwick St Johns team chipped and putted their way to victory by the narrow margin of 9 points over a hardworking Broom Leys outfit.
As the year 3/4 teams made their way home up stepped the year 5/6 teams with Ashby C of E, Broom Leys, Whitwick St Johns, Willesley and Woodstone battling it out for golfing supremacy. 60 Minutes later after the last point was score and the dust had settled Whitwick St Johns had made it a double.
Thank you to Ibstock Community College for hosting and providing leaders at the last minute to ensure the event went ahead. A big thank you to the schools and teaching staff for their flexibility and to the children for all their efforts.
Summer Championships
Whitwick St Johns represented North West Leicestershire with distinction at the Level 3 Leicestershire and Rutland Summer Championship bringing home a Silver in the Year 3/4 and Bronze in Year 5/6. Well Done!
Festivals
Once the storm past and sunlight once again shone upon the hills of North West Leicestershire 31 teams, 277 children from 12 school attended sun soaked events at King Edward and Ashby Schools. With leaders from Castle Rock, King Edward and Ashby ensuring that the events ran smoothly.
