On Friday the 6th and 13th of December we ran our first ever Jingle Jog at Hick’s Lodge in Ashby with over 350 children attending.
The event was aimed at KS1 children, with the intention of getting them out and moving, learning about active lifestyles whilst having some Christmas fun!
Upon arrival at Hick’s Lodge the children were greeted off the bus by the Active Travel team from the council, and whilst walking up to Hick’s Lodge were talked to about choosing the way they travel to school and how to safely cross roads.
At the check in desk all the children were given a Santa hat to get into the festive spirit and then set off around the trail! Every so often the children would encounter a tinsel checkpoint with a healthy lifestyle question or challenge on it, as well as two staffed stations including the Imagination Station, and the Daily Boost station ran by LRS.
It was fantastic to see so many happy faces despite the cold conditions as the children ran, skipped, jogged & walked round the trail.
A big thank you to the Health & Wellbeing team at the council, the Active Travel team, the National Forestry team and LRS who helped make the event possible and Leicestershire County Council Public Health who’s funding we used to put on this event.
