The North West Leicestershire School Sports Partnership has welcomed a £1,000 donation from their local Amazon fulfilment centre.
The School Sports Partnership organises and delivers more than 100 events in over 25 sports and activities across the Ashby, Ibstock, and Coalville areas each academic year.
The NWLSSP will use the donation from Amazon to help support their Inter-School Competition and Festival programme in 2017/18.
Speaking on the donation, Wayne McDermott, RME Area Manager at the Amazon Coalville fulfilment centre said:
“It is a pleasure to support the School Sports Partnership. The SSP plays an invaluable role in encouraging children in our community to be involved in sport, offering a chance to try a wide range of different sports and we’re delighted to play a part in supporting that.”
Stuart Johnson, Director of Sport and Community Development at North West Leicestershire School Sports Partnership said:
“Playing sports has such a positive influence on our young people and we love seeing the smiles it brings to their faces when they participate in fun activities like the recent basketball competition. The donation will be vital in helping us to secure venues, purchase equipment, train young leaders to support events and provide pupils with a great experience. Thank you to the team at Amazon for their generosity.”
The donation forms part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
