After our KS3 Dodgeball event, next up was KS3 Basketball and first up was the boys turn. Boys from Castle Rock, Ivanhoe, Ibstock and Newbridge were all competing to win the competition and progress to the county level competition.
The Year 7 boy’s competition was lit up by one player from Ivanhoe A who helped his team to a 6-4 victory over Ivanhoe B, with a last minute basket which ultimately helped Ivanhoe A to the overall victory. The Year 8 boy’s competition was won by Castle Rock who went the whole competition without conceding a single basket. Castle Rock also won the Year 9 boy’s competition winning both of their games.
The week after it was the girls chance to shoot some hoops. The Year 7 girl’s competition resulted in the three teams competing all finishing with one win each, however Newbridge Year 7’s 17-4 win against Ivanhoe meant they finished with the superior points difference. This game was also the highest scoring throughout all 6 competitions! The Year 8 girl’s competition was an extremely close competition with all 6 games only decided by a single point, but Newbridge managed to narrowly win both of their games and secure the overall win. In the Year 9 girl’s competition Castle Rock managed to prevent Newbridge from doing the triple by convincingly winning both of their games, to win the Year 9 competition.
The winning teams will now progress to represent North West Leicestershire at the county level competition, good luck!
